Make this family or baby photoshoot a day to remember for all the right reasons.
You made the decision, you booked the photoshoot, and you’ve dreamed about how amazing the final results are going to look.
But if motherhood has taught us anything, it’s just not going to be that easy.
That’s where I come in. In this blog post, I’ll take the guesswork out of preparation. I’m going to let you know exactly what is needed to have this day run as smoothly as your baby’s skin.
And on the day of the session? You’ll be in my capable hands, and together we’ll capture the natural beauty of you and your family.
Before the Day Start planning outfits in advance.
What will you wear? What will your spouse wear? What will your baby wear?
I suggest all outfits match or coordinate well with each other. This leads to a cleaner more cohesive photo.
Look at your favourite pieces in your baby’s wardrobe, find some inspiration on Pinterest, or on our Instagram.
If you’re not sure, or can’t decide, don’t worry! Bring multiple options and we can choose together.
In the Little Moons studio, we have an Infant Wardrobe available with some classic, neutral pieces for all skin tones. To see those options, and get some more outfit styling tips, check out Getting Ready: Baby & Family Session.
For parents, if you’ve been meaning to get a haircut or a beard trim, think about that beforehand. You’ll want to look and feel your best on the day of.
And this one goes for everyone… grooming!
Make sure everyone's nails are trimmed, filed, and clean. Don’t skip out on the moisturizer to avoid any dry patches. There will be close-ups… I repeat…

On the Day
Apart from bringing your beautiful selves, here is the ultimate checklist for your family photoshoot day!
- Outfit options (for family)
- A hairbrush (for family touchups)
- Some lotion (for family touchups)
- Makeup, lipstick, chapstick (for family touchups)
- Baby’s favourite blanket or swaddle (to maintain familiarity, calm, and comfort)
- Baby’s favourite toy or stuffy (to maintain familiarity, calm, comfort, and concentration)
- Extra outfits and diapers (in case of any accidents)
- A mess-free snack (to keep happy tummies and use as a bribe)
You’ll want to make sure your baby comes to the photoshoot well fed. A full baby is a happy baby, which leads to a successful family photography session. (This goes for the adults too.)
At this point, the only left to do is show up and let me help you capture those first moments on camera. Remember those feelings forever.
